Feeding Program
Open Eyes loves to partner with the locals and to support their God given vision. In 2014 we started supporting one of the local churches with a Feeding Program located in one of the most conflicted neighborhoods in Comayagua, Honduras.
James says…
“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”
– James 2:14–18, ESV
This is our goal for our feeding program, to provide for their physical needs, so we can in turn, provide for their spiritual needs. To do this, we currently feed 135 children one hot nutritious lunch every weekday, Monday through Friday. For some, this may be the only meal they eat for the day and it is our desire to continue to meet this need.
Through this program we have been able to disciple the children and to get them involved in church. This also gives us the opportunity to reach their families. We are able to support this program with $700 per month, and our vision is to be able to open several more of these centers in the future in order to bless many more.
